Sunrise at Lincoln Memorial - Fall Equinox

Two times a year, during the Spring and Fall Equinox, the interior of the Lincoln Memorial floods with light at sunrise.

This very cool moment happens next on Saturday, September 23, 2023 at 06:50am. Of course all this depends on the weather, last time it was beautiful and we ended up capturing photos like the one above.

In my opinion, the best location is inside the memorial waiting for the sun to shine in. You have to get there early and keep an eye on the sun, the best light come and goes quick.

We will not be at this event. Please take all precautions necessary and avoid crowds.

Remember when parking to obey signs and if needed, make a payment at the machines or using the DC parking app. If this particular shot doesn't motivate, there are lots of sunrise opportunities, such as the Reflecting Pool, Vietnam Memorial, WWII, etc. Always remember to share your images back to the group to inspire others!
