17:45 Open Zoom Meeting

18:00 Rediscover Redis - DaShaun Carter (Redis Labs)

In this session we will introduce Redis, an OSS in-memory data structure store. We will discuss Redis as a database, cache, and message broker for your cloud native applications. Finally, we will demonstrate how to get started with Redis. The goal of the session is to provide an introductory understanding of Redis, and prove that RAM is cheaper than DISK.

Speaker: DaShaun is a Partner Solution Architect for Redis Labs. A husband, father of four, volunteer and reluctant athlete. Deliberately practicing to build better software, faster. Generalist. Computer Science. MBA. Continuously learning. Believes that every rep counts. Doesn't have anything figured out. Still trying to prove to himself that the sacrifices that his parents made for him, were worth it. Trying to get a little better every day.

19:00 Service Brokers in a Nutshell - Building Service Brokers with Spring Cloud - Baris Cubukcuoglu

When building applications, teams need a streamlined way to select and consume services from a provider, whether it's an on-premise database from within their organization or a messaging service from a public cloud. The Open Service Broker API project enables developers to deliver services to applications running within cloud native platforms such as Cloud Foundry and Kubernetes.

By leveraging Spring Cloud Open Service Broker/Spring Cloud App Broker we will see how quickly we can stand up and deploy a service broker to bring our own managed service to any Open Service Broker compatible platform. Next to bringing the service broker to production, this talk will also shed some light on best practices and lessons we have learned along the way.

Speaker: Baris is a software engineer at mimacom with more than 10 years of experience in developing and architecting enterprise software applications - mostly in highly regulated environments like the financial industry. Eager for a new challenge, Baris recently transitioned to the infrastructure side of the things to expand his knowledge in building holistic software solutions, including areas like automation and cloud operations. As he's always striving to improve, Baris likes spending time exercising. He also has a passion for monochrome street photography.
