Flourtown Shopping Center "C" ( 11-13 mph ) and "C+" (12-14 mph) Ride

This is a weekly "C" level ( 11-13 mph) / C+ level ( 12-14 mph) road bike ride running every Wednesday evening April thru the end of September.If you come out to ride with us on a hybrid or mountain bike we will assume you are in very good shape and can handle the 11-13 mph pace.Our faster C+ riders ( 12-14 mph) lead out front and up the hills. Your leader (Tom Madle) maintains a "C" pace ( 11-13 mph) throughout the ride. We always ride out of the Flourtown Shopping Center from the rear parking lot next to the Giant Food Market ( next to the wooded area of the parking lot). The ride starts promptly at 6:00pm and ends at sunset. Since the ride starts 6pm sharp plan to be at the parking lot no later than 5:45pm so you can unload your bike and sign-in with the ride leader. We will start the season riding riding on the lower end of the posted ride paces and maximum distance will be around 17-25 miles. As daylight increases and we get into better riding shape we will increase the ride pace to 12-14 mph and ride distance to 25-32 miles with the longest rides in mid June to mid July. Each week we ride a new route. Bring front and rear lights for your bike in the event we get delayed and finish the ride after sunset. Bring at least 1 water bottle and a spare tire in case you get a flat tire. Most of the rides will travel thru and around Montgomery, Chester, Philadelphia and Bucks Counties with the predominant number of rides staying in Montgomery County. Some of our favorite destinations in Montgomery Country are Blue Bell, Worcester, East Norriton, Skippack and Horsham all which have some quiet low traffic scenic roads. We also welcome "out of towners" who are non-members to ride with us. If you consistently ride with us consider joining the SCU bike club to take advantage of the many other social activities and subsidized "members only" post ride food parties provided by SCU.
