Try this 4.2-mile loop trail near Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Generally considered a challenging route, it takes an average of 2 h 49 min to complete. This is a popular trail for birding, hiking, and walking, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day. The best times to visit this trail are April through November. You'll need to leave pups at home — dogs aren't allowed on this trail. Mount Monadnock is named after the geologic term "monadnock," which refers to an exposed hill of bedrock. The White Dot Trail is the steepest, featuring rocky terrain and stone stairs. Along the way, it offers some scenic viewpoints, allowing hikers to pause and take in the natural beauty around them. The trail showcases the diverse flora and fauna native to the region
