A one-of-a-kind immersive performance art experience is coming to the heart of Dumbo, Brooklyn on Friday, February 28, 2025, in a raw warehouse transformed into a living, alternative gallery space. The Living Installation: Crazed Doll will be a celebration of wild creativity and a protest against the suffocating norms of modern society. This one-night-only performance will bring back the chaotic, unpredictable fun energy that New York's art scene was once known for.
Jadda Cat, the fearless yet playful performance artist, will embody the Crazed Doll, a figure reflecting the collective anxieties and expressions many feel in these turbulent times. Through a dynamic blend of paint splashes, bizarre DIY fashion, hand-crafted masks, and ferocious expressions, she transforms into wild, unrecognizable creatures in an ever-evolving performance. Each moment of the performance is an expression of individuality and liberation, pushing against the constraints of modern life and the forces that attempt to suppress personal freedom. The performance holds special significance as it coincides with Jadda Cat’s birthday, adding a layer of serendipity.
Accompanying the performance will be Cat’s partner Michael Alan Alien, world renowned fine artist, featured in People Magazine, The New York Times, and Succession HBO. See him create live drawings with white ink on black paper inspired by the performance happening before your eyes as he drifts on and off the stage as a living art creature loving his best friend. The tracks of the performance’s soundtrack are made by Michael Alan Alien.
The space is alive with sound, color, and the energy of creative expression at this NYC art happening. The Living Installation encourages you to unplug, to sketch, to dance, or simply to immerse yourself in the raw energy that radiates through space.
This special performance will take place at City Maze: A Living Gallery, an industrial raw space in Dumbo, Brooklyn, transformed into an interactive maze with artworks exhibited throughout. The gallery's innovative maze will add an extra dimension to the experience, creating a truly unique environment to explore and interact with the art.
To those who remember the magic of old New York – the late-night art happenings, the unpredictability, and the raw energy of spontaneous expression – The Living Installation is a reminder that the spirit of that vibrant city is still alive and thriving. This is New York’s art scene brought into the present with chaotic beauty and powerful creativity.
Tickets are available for both in-person attendance and online viewing. For those who can’t make it in person, the performance will be streamed live for a global audience. Simply select the “online view” option to receive a link to watch the show or catch it at your convenience. Check your inbox at 7:30pm EST on the night of the show for an email with the link to watch.
Don’t miss this chance to witness an unforgettable night of unapologetic, raw artistic expression. The Living Installation: Crazed Doll will immerse you in an experience that blends performance art, chaos, and creativity – a night that will forever be etched in your memory.
The Living Installation is a live expressive surreal, meditative experience, a living movie acted out. The artist couple, Michael Alan and Jadda Cat constantly morph materials, light, color, sound, and costume with their bodies, minds, and spirit to create an ever-changing living sculpture. Every installation is different. Jadda Cat’s energy transcends throughout eternity! Michael Alan Alien is NYC punk living in the now! The Living Installation is a refreshing low-fi look into the essence of creation. It is an untraditional behind-the-scenes presentation of art, consisting of wacky performance, body art, video projection, live music, and punk sounds, with comedic satirical elements, endless inspiration, and so much more. This ongoing living art human project has been going strong for over 25 years in NYC, founded by Bushwick-born and NYC raised Michael Alan Alien. He has been creating live shows in NYC since the 90s. He believes in preserving the raw creative essence of old New York.
