FULL MOON FIRE DANCING & DRUM JAM
Come out and enjoy the Full Moon Festival Fire Jam.
This exciting free monthly event IS ONE OF MY MUST DO FAVORITE SUMMERTIME EVENTS IN CHICAGO and is held Monday June 1st, from 7p-10p at the lakefront 5050 N. Simonds Dr.
(between Lawrence Ave & Foster Ave, EAST of Lakeshore Dr), on the grass on the WEST side of the street.
EVENT:
The entertainment consists of a group of Fire Dancers and Percussionists. Anybody that brings an instrument can join in! Women and men dance and spin, juggle, or hula hoop with fire to tribal drumbeats played by percussionists.
Performance starts at sunset (around 7p)
We will meet for picnic @ 6:00pm. Look for colorful pink streamers on a tall dark green pole.
Bring a lawn chair if you like, or just sit on our tarp blanket.
👉🏽It’s ok to get there at 6:30 pm, but please get there as early as you can there is plenty of free parking but it fills up fast .
Please bring picnic foods for yourself and/or to share that are already prepared (sandwiches, chips, salads, chicken, fruit, dessert, etc.) It's fun for people of all ages and is family friendly.
Also- Alcohol is prohibited; glass bottles are not allowed (so bring your favorite "adult" beverages in an unmarked water, pop, or juice bottle)
ACCESS:
You can get off at either exit, the park is between Lawrence and Foster exits on Lake Shore Drive. When you get to the location you will see several parks along the west side of the free parking & there may be a soccer game, but look for the park where people are sitting around a roped off circle. That’s the fire jam.
Also ( if it helps) USE THESE LANDMARKS, GPS for sometimes can't locate this address. Look for trees carved to look like 4 headless human figures.
PARKING:
Limited free street parking on Simonds Dr. available, or a metered pay lot at Foster. ( next to the field house ) near the foster exit / entrance ramp) . The earlier you arrive the better, free parking is numerous alongside the parks between foster and Lawrence but it fills up quickly. You can find free parking further away but anticipate a short walk.
This is a really fantastic event, don't miss it. Bring a jacket since it may be cool by the lake at night.
In case of inclement weather, this event may be cancelled.
