Book Discussion: The Book Club for Troublesome Women by Marie Boswick
Details
Join the Summerville Women’s 55+ Book Group for a lively and thoughtful discussion of The Book Club for Troublesome Women is a character-driven novel about a group of women in the 1960's who come together through a book club but end up confronting much bigger issues in their own lives. As they read and discuss literature, the conversations begin to mirror their personal struggles—touching on themes like identity, expectations, relationships, and the quiet (or not-so-quiet) rebellion against societal norms.
Each woman brings her own story, and through friendship, honesty, and sometimes conflict, they begin to challenge what they’ve been told they “should” be. The book blends humor, vulnerability, and insight, ultimately highlighting the power of community and the courage it takes to redefine your life on your own terms.
At its core, it’s about women who are labeled “troublesome” simply for wanting more—and choosing to go after it anyway.
Whether the book was a favorite or left you with mixed feelings, your perspective is welcome. Come enjoy great conversation, share your thoughts, hear different viewpoints, and spend time in good company.
