RothRock State Forest (1 night, Intermediate)
Details
This is a 15.2 mile 1 night trip in Rothrock State forest. The route features a ridge walk with sweeping views on the first day, a wilderness campsite, and passage through the wildlife-rich Bear Meadows on day 2.
Due to the length of the drive to get there and unclear parking lot size, carpooling is heavily encouraged. We will form a group chat a couple weeks before the trip to plan carpooling. The listed start time is when we will start hiking, so be ready to leave early.
This hike should be considered intermediate level: it is shorter than some hikes, but the Mid State Trail is notoriously rocky, so be prepared to watch your footing. The wilderness campsite has a water source nearby, but no pit toilet. Due to high burn risk, no open flames are allowed in Rothrock at this time. Gas stoves are fine but plan accordingly.
Spaces are limited. Please only RSVP if you are reasonably sure you can make it. If you cannot, please cancel your RSVP. Thank you!
