What we're about

We usually hike between three and six miles. The description of each hike will provide details about the pace and the terrain.

Most of our hikes are on trails in the woods. Some hikes are with dogs. Some are strictly fitness hikes designed to get 10,000 steps or more in your day. Some hikes are mostly fun / historical in nature. Some of the hikes are tag along with either a CVNP or Summit Metro led hike typically designated with "FYI:" Some hikes are centered around the beginner hiker who is trying to better him or herself. As always, you hike at your own risk. We were started out by a group of bariatric surgery survivors, who realized the need to become more active in their life and truly enjoyed or learned how to enjoy the outdoors.

All hikers participate at their own risk. Hiking should always be within your comfort and skill level. Please read the Meetup description carefully and email the event organizer if you have any question about your ability to complete the hike or other event. By signing up for a hike or other event you are stating that you are physically able to complete the event listed. You are responsible for your own safety and assume all risks and liabilities on all outings. Event organizers are unpaid volunteers and should not be relied upon to have any special skills or training.

Kendall Lake Area 7 Mile Advanced Intermediate Hike

Kendall Lake Shelter

Hike around 7 miles or so starting from the Kendall Lake area. Start on the Lake Trail and go south through Little Meadow to Wetmore, Table Top, Langes Run, and back north through Wetmore and back to Kendall Lake. Much of the route is relatively remote with multiple stream crossings and almost 600 feet of elevation gain. Pace will be an intermediate or better (18 to 16 minutes/mile or 3.3 to 3.75 MPH) pace and will depend on who shows up, but we will stop to re-group as necessary. I give credit to Andrew of the Northeast Ohio Hiking Club and his dog Pearl for leading hikes along a very similar route a few years ago. I wouldn't have known about it otherwise. Notes: -Please maintain 6' distance or wear a mask. By signing up for this hike, you agree to take full responsibility for your own safety. -This is a dual scheduled event with the Northeast Ohio Hiking Club. (So far seven others have signed up there.) -Pets: https://www.nps.gov/cuva/planyourvisit/pets.htm -This event is subject to cancellation or changes for weather or other unforeseen circumstances, so be sure to check this page for last minute changes.

Let's have fun & a little exploring !!! I have been to Linda Falls three times. There is also a Sagamore Creek trail nearby that ultimately leads us down to the Frazee House in the CVNP. Distance on the Buckeye trail was determined to be (3-4 miles). The last time I was there, no restrooms nor anything to drink @ the Alexander road bike & hike trail head. There are restrooms @ Frazee house. We had a good turnout the last time. Please bring something to drink. Hope to see you there !!

Holiday fun, history, & a little cardio @ Hale Farm & Village

Hale Farm & Village

$20.00

This is another repeat maybe. For those who joined me on last Pearl Harbor Day Did you enjoy it enough to come again & spend the $ again ? I have NOT made reservations, Frankly Hale Farm has not worked out all the details yet. This is an FYI: @ this time. Another FYI: Hale Farm typically changes the year in the 19th century as a way to change up the event. Different stories / different activities. To me it is a neat experience but I realize that it may get old if we do this "every year". We gather together to celebrate, remember and offer thanks. Unfortunately this is NOT a free event. Hale Farm offers a group discount. Hopefully there will be enough attendees to qualify. Members coming must call Hale Farm & make your own reservation in the 7:30 PM reserved time slot "Pitman" which I have done. Everyone must call[masked] x 1736 ( old 1720) to make a reservation $20.00 per person for adults. Take a lantern-lit tour of the village and visit historic homes, bustling with holiday preparations. Experience the sights and sounds of the season through a series of charming holiday vignettes. Reservations Required – Call[masked] x 1736 Hope to see you there !
