This is a group exclusively for residents of Sun City Summerlin who wish to participate in indoor or outdoor gardening.
The enjoyment and education provided by an immersion into the world of plants can increase the benefits that we presently enjoy being part of our incredible Sun City Summerlin community. The purpose of chartering the Sun City Summerlin (SCS) Garden Club is to:
- Stimulate the enjoyment and passion for indoor plants and outdoor gardening in our specialized arid environment;
- Share the advantages of community involvement and association by means of Garden Club meetings at our HOA facilities; learn the ‘tricks of the trade’ through presentations by professional horticulturalists to include our own Sun City landscape and maintenance operators; develop a Garden Club publications and an online shared library for all to use; group attendance at gardening and landscaping workshops and conferences that regularly occur around Las Vegas; and, organizing special Garden Club events such as group tours to meet with the creators of inspired gardens within our 7,700 home footprint and around Clark County;
- Expand our individual and community knowledge about gardening, landscaping, horticulture, and even urban agriculture for the purposes of restoring, improving, and protecting the quality of our HOA environment.
These are just a few of the benefits and activities that the SCS Garden Club can provide. A Garden Club can benefit anyone as it is a great reason to get out and get moving. It increases our awareness of the world around our individual homes and community. Gardening is a very healthy activity and hobby. The fresh air and vitamin D are plentiful and free. A Garden Club unites people who live in a common place and share a common love of flowers, fresh herbs, garden-fresh vegetables, shrubs, trees, cacti, succulents, and the list goes on. In closing, a close association with a garden brings peace of mind. It soothes the soul and is always fun.
