Myakka River SP - Chapter Meeting and Campout - Weekend

CAMPING: We have the A, B and C group campsites reserved from Friday afternoon through Sunday. The group sites are directly across SR 72 from the South Park Entrance. Camping is free, there are bathrooms, water, but no electric. No RV's or trailers. Tents or car camping only.
CHECK-IN: We ask that everyone check in at the South Entrance Ranger Station. Let them know you are here for the Florida Trail Association Event. The ranger will give you a weekend parking pass.
PARKING: Cars can be parked at the group camp temporarily. If you are not car camping, we ask that you park your car for the weekend at the lot just to the right of the ranger station (the "South Pavilion Lot"). You can unload at the group site and then bring your car over to the lot. It is a very short walk back.
ACTIVITIES: We will have 2 hikes on Saturday morning. A 4-5 mile hike and a 8 mile hike. The short hike will start at Fox Low Rd trailhead. Long hike at Fox Low Road trailhead. We will need to carpool from the South Pavilion Lot to the trailheads. Short hike, assemble at the Lot at 9:00AM, reach trailhead by 9:150AM. Long hike, assemble at the Lot at 8:15AM, reach trailhead at 8:30AM. If you are coming just for the day, you can either meet us in the carpool area, or at the trailhead. We will also have 1 or 2 sunset/night hikes to be determined, leaving from the South Pavilion Lot. Campfires will be Friday and Saturday night at the group camp, burn restrictions pending. All hikers please RSVP on the separate Meetup events for each hike so we know how many are coming.

Make sure to update your RSVP if you are no longer attending we need an accurate head count. We will have a St. Patrick’s Day Themed lunch with corned beef, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, and onions. You are welcome to bring a dish to share. A donation of $5 will be accepted to cover the cost of the lunch.

We will have an omelet bar and pancakes. You are encouraged to bring something to share or donation. Volunteers needed to set up, cook, and clean up after.
