Melon Hike #2 (Optional Weekend Camping @ Crooked River)

WHAT: Melon Hike #2 will be the Croom A Loop, approximately 7ish miles. At the halfway point, we'll take a break from our efforts to enjoy some refreshing watermelon and, as always, share some laughs.
BONUS: There might be an opportunity for educated mycologists to forage for wild chanterelles.
BONUS BONUS: We'll have a campsite or two reserved at Crooked River from Fri-Sun. If anyone would like to camp for the weekend, please message me on Meetup or in the comments. Always a good time with communal dinner and a river swim.
WHEN: The hike will be Saturday, July 25, 2026. Meet at Tucker Hill Day Use parking lot at 8am for check-in. We hit trail at 8:15am. Be early or be left behind.
WHERE: Tucker Hill Day Use Area, Brooksville, FL. See the map below.
WHO: It's July in Florida. Expect hot, humid and possibly wet conditions on trail. Please honestly assess your fitness for this hike, it ain't easy given the heat and humidity.
BRING: Hat, sunglasses, tick repellant, sunscreen, LOTS of water (2-3 liters recommended), perhaps some gatorade or similar electrolyte potion. If joining us for camping, food to share, your camping rig, swimsuit.
