This is a BYOK only. It will be a relaxed and casual paddle out to a few spoil islands in St. Joseph Sound. We will take an extended break at Horseshoe Island for some Chill Time. Expect to paddle around 6 miles (MOL). The ending time is an approximate. If you're in a hurry or on a time constraint then, this paddle is not for you. Please read full description prior to signing up.

Float Plan: Wet our paddles right at 9am. We'll paddle southwest over clear water, shallow grass flats, lime rock & oyster bar bottom, and by waterfront homes on our way out to St. Joseph Sound. We'll swing by a southern spoil island, then turn north to a second spoil island called Horseshoe Island. Here we will land and take an extended break of at least an hour. We'll play it by ear so, please go with the flow. This is a scenic island that has several options to land, plenty of shade & sun, big enough to explore, and views of Dunedin Causeway/ Honeymoon Island State Park. It is also a popular overnight destination. From here, we'll swing by another spoil island to the north, Bird Island, and then start paddling back to shore. If the group would like, we can stop and check out a few other smaller scenic islands that we'll be passing. Once we get closer to shore there is a cove that is enjoyable to paddle into and wind down before ending our journey.

Meeting Point: Pop Stansell Park. It has no entrance fee, there are restroom facilities available, and a paddle craft only launch. If the tide is low enough. A kayak kart would be helpful. Look for a black Jeep Gladiator.

Afterwards, for those that may have interest. We can stop and enjoy some drinks and grub at the Thirsty Marlin, 1023 Florida Avenue, Palm Harbor, FL 34683 which is 5 minutes away. The Thirsty Marlin - Palm Harbor, FL
