EVENT IS FULL! RSVP's closed

A handful of us are planning to hike the Georgia Bartram Trail in November. There will be space for a few others who have the requisite experience, conditioning level, and familiarity with our group.

The hike will be a loop of about 45 miles. We'll plan on 5 nights camping, with a short walk out on day 6. taking our time to enjoy our visits to several waterfalls and overlooks along the way. Consider it to be a moderately strenuous to strenuous hike. There are no named or designated campsites. Finding a common site for a larger group may prove to be a challenge.

The named falls in order are:

  • Dick's Creek
  • Becky Branch
  • Martin Creek
  • Holcomb Creek

This trail was destroyed by our recent storms. The Bartram Trail Conservancy continues the monumental task for clearing and restoring the trail. Hopefully, nature will have healed the wounded forest somewhat by then.

Quote from WILLIAM BARTRAM, Colonial naturalist and botanist, commenting on Florida's natural splendor, during his exploration in the pre Revolutionary mid 1700's. He wrote much about Payne's Prairie and has been described as the first naturalist who penetrated the dense tropical forests of Florida.
"Whilst I, continually impelled by a restless spirit of curiosity, in pursuit of new productions of nature, my chief happiness consisted in tracing and admiring the infinite power, majesty, and perfection of the Great Almighty Creator"
