Springtime in Green Swamp East!

Come with us to Green Swamp East!

Green Swamp East is one of our favorite places to visit. This hike has woody paths, gravel throughways and lots of bridges!

Because of this year's managed hunt schedule, we are changing our route to an out-and-back to Motts Hammock campsite via the Florida National Scenic trail. Total distance: 10.8 miles.

Website indicates this tract is closed to the public for the month of April (1-26). The Florida Trail and named roads are still open to hikers but it is strongly suggested that you wear some orange! (https://www.swfwmd.state.fl.us/recreation/hunting-season-limited-access)

NOTE: Participants must be able and willing to hike the entire route. We cannot allow anyone to try and find their way back to the car alone should they decide they don’t want to continue. We hike as a group.

Bring enough water for your day, snacks, sunscreen, hat, bug repellent (it will be buggy!) and anything that you need to make your hike comfortable. We'll take a break at the campsite.
