🌴Day Hike at Lower Green Swamp Nature Preserve🥾🥾 9-10 Miles
Details
Lower Green Swamp Nature Preserve only opened to the public in June of 2014. Quite frankly, when I first hiked it back then, it was very much a "work in progress".
Now 12 years later, with nature doing her thing, plus help from Conservation & Env. Land Mgmt aka CELM in the form of many volunteer work days including tree planting projects, it is coming along nicely.
That being said, it is still a lot of open prairie, having been the Cone Ranch in its past life.
So let's get out there before the warmer temps arrive. We'll plan on doing a counter clockwise loop of sorts. We'll be heading to Itchepakesassa Creek. When the flow is right, this section is known as Itchy Falls! Hopefully you'll get a chance to see why!
No water, restrooms at the trail head. There is no fee. There is ONE chemical toilet at about 0.25 miles. Two liters of water, sun protection and whatever personal items you need. Bring a ground cloth if you don't want to sit on the ground during breaks.
