This will be a loop hike of approximately 8 miles using the network of trails and forest roads which traverse the area. Some of the route may include lesser maintained unmapped trail. This hike is for intermediate / experienced hikers.
It will involve two fords of the Hillsorough River. These fords are generally easy to cross in dry conditions. Other times, they may involve wading. (see photo)
We'll be starting at the Chancey Rd trail head. This parking area has been in various states of washout and general disrepair but it is reported to be repaired and leveled. The parking area is small, you can park up on the shoulder if full.
No fee to park. No restrooms or water available. Please bring 2 liters of water/hydration, ground cloth for sitting during breaks, personal sanitation supplies, snacks, etc.
