KAYAK/SUP: Jigg's Landing - Ward Lake - Braden River Dam

IMPORTANT: Arrive no later than by 8:00 am!
We launch anytime after 8:20 am.
Arrive on time and don't be left behind.

Ward Lake, also known as Bill Ebers Reservoir, is a 255 acre body of water on the Braden River. It provides most of the water to the City of Bradenton.

Jigg's Landing is an old fishing camp offering freshwater paddling opportunities on the Upper Braden River.

We paddle North for 1 mile to reach the Braden River Dam. We turn at the Dam and paddle around mangrove islands until we arrive at the southern entrance to the Braden River. We paddle south on the Braden River for 3 miles before turning around and returning to our launch.

After returning to Jigg's Landing, we will drive to the "Newly Reopened" Linger Lodge Restaurant (lunch is optional but worth it!).

Due to the trip length of 8+ miles this paddle is intended for intermediate/experienced paddlers only!

This trip is for Suncoast Pedal & Paddle members exclusively.
No guests, pets, +1's and/or spouses allowed on this trip.

Upon Arrival: Please sign in on the "Participant Liability Waiver" BEFORE you get in to the water (unless you have a SP&P decal).

IMPORTANT: Approximately 5 minutes before launch time we will hold a MANDATORY pre-paddle safety briefing. Please do not get into your kayak until AFTER the safety briefing is over.

This is a popular boat launch so please clear the launch area as soon as possible and be considerate of boaters.

DON'T FORGET: PFD and whistle (both required by law), and (optional) water, bug spray, itch relief, sunscreen, water shoes, snacks, paddle float, bilge pump, spray skirt, paddle leash, etc.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Since the demand to attend our paddling events is unusually high, we request that if your plans change and you won't be attending, that you remove your name from the "attendee list" as soon as possible! If you do not remove yourself from the list of attendees WITHIN 24 HOURS of the event, you will be marked as a "NO SHOW". If you have THREE "NO SHOW"s you will be dropped from the group.

First Timers: SunCoast Pedal & Paddle (SP&P) decals are available for purchase prior to this event. The cost is $3 (Please help with exact change). By displaying the SP&P decal on your kayak, you will NOT have to sign the liability waiver on EACH trip you attend.
