KAYAK/SUP: Blackburn Point - Little Sarasota Bay - w/Lunch

Meet at the kayak launch at Blackburn Point Park (on the LEFT just BEFORE the Casey Key Bridge when coming from Rt. 41 - 800 Blackburn Point Road).

IMPORTANT: Arrive no later than 8:30 am! We launch between 8:45 and 9:00 am. Arrive on time and don't be left behind.

Blackburn Park is a very convenient, easy launch with plenty of parking and clear water in the launch area (no muck or mud but beware of oysters!). Expect to see dolphins and manatees on this paddle!

We paddle south along the intracoastal side of Casey Key for about 3 miles and then head back north and in to South Creek (on the right) . After a very scenic 2 mile paddle in South Creek we arrive at Oscar Scherer Park where we will have a 15 minute break before heading back.

Due to the trip length of 8+ miles, this paddle is intended for intermediate/experienced paddlers ONLY! Please know your limits!
You must have paddled a minimum distance of 8+ miles within the last 6 months.

This trip is exclusively for SunCoast Pedal & Paddle members ONLY.
No guests, pets, +1's and/or spouses allowed on this trip.

UPON ARRIVAL: Please sign in on the "Participant Liability Waiver" BEFORE you get in to the water (unless you display a SP&P decal).

Don't forget to bring: PFD and WHISTLE (both required by law) and (optional) water shoes, water/drinks, bug spray, itch relief, sunscreen, paddle leash, paddle float, bilge pump, spray skirt, snacks, etc.

IMPORTANT: Approximately 5 minutes before launch time we will hold a MANDATORY safety briefing. Please do not get into your kayaks until AFTER the pre-trip safety briefing is over.

CANCELLATION POLICY: Since the demand to attend our paddling events is unusually high, we request that if your plans change and you won't be attending, that you remove your name from the "attendee list" as soon as possible! If you do not remove yourself from the list of attendees WITHIN 24 HOURS of the event, you will be flagged as a "NO SHOW". If you have Three "NO SHOWs" you will be dropped from the group.

FIRST TIMERS: SunCoast Pedal & Paddle (SP&P) decals are available for purchase prior to this event. The cost is $3 (Please help out with exact change!
Please display the decal on your kayak and you won't have to sign the liability waiver on each trip you attend (you will sign an annual waiver when you purchase the decals).
