KAYAK/SUP: Shell Key Preserve w/Lunch

Shell Key Preserve is an 1,828-acre preserve in Tierra Verde, Pinellas County. The Preserve, located at the mouth of Tampa Bay, protects sensitive marine habitats and includes one of the country's largest underdeveloped barrier islands as well as numerous mangrove islands and expansive sea grass beds. The "centerpiece" of the preserve is a 195-acre barrier island known as Shell Key. The Preserve is an important sanctuary for nesting, wintering, and migrating birds.

LAUNCH SITE: We will be launching from the Pinellas Bayway S parking lot boat launch. Just past toll booth (75 cents) before crossing bridge and just past Tampa Bay Watch facility.

LAUNCH TIME! Arrive no later than 8:30 am since we launch between 8:45 - 9:00 am.
Arrive on time so as to not be left behind!
Trip length is approximately 5 to 6 miles.

This paddle is for intermediate level paddlers (no beginners).

It is recommended to bring water shoes in addition to the usual sunscreen, bug repellent, water, PFD, whistle, hat, sunglasses, etc.

Upon Arrival: Please sign in on the "Participant Liability Waiver" BEFORE you get into your kayak.
