HGP - The People's Depot: Redeeming People Through Bottle Redemption
Details
Note - This is a Humanists of Greater Portland (HGP) event being shared on the former Portland Sunday Assembly Meetup page. While Portland Sunday Assembly is no longer running as an independent 501c3, HGP First Sunday programs are organized by former members to include music, child care, and FUN!
HGP First Sunday - The People's Depot: Redeeming People Through Bottle Redemption
The People's Depot, a program of Ground Score Association, is a one of a kind bottle redemption program located underneath the Morrison Bridge in the Central Eastside. Started during the height of covid, "TPD" has gone from humble beginnings to influencing the latest changes in the Oregon bottle bill in 2025. Bottle redemption has always been a polarizing topic of discussion here in Portland. Hear from Kristofer Brown, who manages day to day operations at the depot, on what The People's Depot is and how it is different from the rest of the redemption world, who uses our depot services, why this work is crucial in todays modern landscape, and other thoughts related to bottle redemption and homelessness.
(First Sundays start with 1/2 hour of music and offer childcare.)
