What we’re about
Sunday Assembly Portland is a 501c3 non-profit secular community. We celebrate life.
Our motto: Live Better, Help Often, and Wonder More
We are the Portland Chapter of the international movement called Sunday Assembly. We provide a non-religious alternative where people can come together at monthly assemblies to sing uplifting songs, share inspiring stories, and hear engaging lectures. Between assemblies we have small groups that focus on a wide range of interests as well as volunteer projects in the Portland area. We strive to be radically inclusive, family-friendly, and create a supportive community as we take full advantage of this one life we know we have.
Sunday Assembly Portland is free and everyone is welcome!

HGP First Sunday - The Chorusing Effect with Ben Landsverk
Ben will speak about his experience leading The Low Bar Chorale, and the importance of community singing and arts access during troubled times. Expect some music to break out while you're there!
Ben Landsverk is an American composer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist, based in Portland OR, whose work focuses on social change through music. Hailed as a “prominent Portland composer” (Bloomberg Magazine) and as “a unique musical talent” (Willamette Week), he is best known as the creator of The Low Bar Chorale, and for his work as one half of the duo Wonderly, who penned the theme for the New York Times’ The Daily. He is an active session musician and orchestral/choral arranger and has worked with such musical luminaries as Father John Misty, Ruby Friedman, Pink Martini, Storm Large, Smokey Robinson, Van Dyke Parks, Rachel Taylor Brown, Holcombe Waller, Liz Vice, Kasey Anderson, Box Set, and Alela Diane. Landsverk is a graduate of Yale and has directed choirs of all types for over 25 years. He thinks it’s funny when you tell him, “I can’t sing.” He bets you can.
Pre-program music performance by HGP members begins at 9:30AM so please come early! There will be childcare available for toilet-trained kids.
