What is Gender Euphoria and Why Does it Matter?
You may have heard of "gender dysphoria" and know it has something to do with trans people, but maybe you haven't heard of "gender euphoria" before. Gender euphoria is a different way trans communities have found to approach questions of connection, joy, and wholeness in how they embody themselves, express their genders, and relate with others. Joscelyn Inton-Campbell, Youth Program Manager for TransFamily Support Services and lecturer at CSU San Marcos in Women's, Gender, and Sexuality, will tell us about how gender euphoria can be meaningful for everyone, not just trans people. She will also address the history of gender diversity, how research and community is moving us beyond a "pathologization" model of gender diversity, and how our knowledge and experiences can provide new insight into this wibbly-wobbly thing we call "gender."
