Sunday Assembly San Diego is an inclusive, non-religious community that meets to hear thoughtful talks, connect for service projects, sing songs, and generally celebrate life (with snacks). Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome. AND!! Free child care for ages 1.5 and up is available at every Assembly.
January's Assembly speaker:
On average, humans need to use restrooms 8 to 10 times a day. Do you always have access to a restroom when you need one? Public restrooms in San Diego County are often hard to find, poorly maintained, or unavailable altogether. This has contributed to repeated, preventable outbreaks of infectious diseases like Hepatitis A and Shigellosis. The Project for Sanitation Justice (PSJ) at San Diego State University began in 2020 with a simple goal: to locate public restroom facilities across our county and make that information available to the public. PSJ's Founding Director, Dr. Megan Welsh Carroll, will break down why public restroom access matters for all of us, why San Diego struggles to provide enough restrooms for its residents and visitors, and what needs to be done to ensure that every San Diegan has a clean, safe, and dignified place to go.
