Meditation is an evidence-supported method for improving mental wellbeing, especially during and after times of crisis. Whether you're an experienced meditator or someone who actively avoids it, please join us in an accessible, simple guided "meditation 101" at the Dharma Bum Temple. (And whoever wants to have lunch together after, can. There are a bunch of places to eat nearby.)

The meditation leader will give a short intro, and then gently lead us in breathing together. Following a 20 minute-ish meditation, the guide will take questions. The guide may answer those questions from a humanist or a Buddhist perspective, and we are all welcome to leave or stay for that Q & A. Attendees will be: people who just want help focusing or feeling more centered; people who feel comfort in sitting with others; people who are in substance misuse recovery; and/or who are just curious. In short, anyone who wants to attend. Like you.

There is ample parking at the school admin parking lot across the street, it being a Saturday, and there is some street parking. People entering the temple are encouraged to remove their shoes, so please consider bringing socks for your comfort and temperature regulation. Also, the temple is a non-profit, so if you appreciate your experience and can swing it, please bring some cash for the box on the wall in the back.

We will meet out front and then head in about 5 minutes before the start, and sit in the very back area.

The Dharma Bum Temple has nearby bus stops on the 1, 11, and 215 bus lines, and you can plan your route here. If you'd like to catch a ride with another attendee, please leave a comment below and hopefully a driver will volunteer.
