Too Much of a Good Thing: Marketplace Decision-Making
You're in a grocery store buying peanut butter. "How difficult can this really be?" you might ask yourself. "I can just compare the products and prices and be home eating a PB&J in no time." But research shows that a variety of factors influence our marketplace decision-making, from what items are on nearby shelves, to the myriad thoughts going on in our heads in that moment. Dr. Uma Karmarkar, assistant professor at the School of Global Policy and Strategy and at the Rady School of Management, will share a few ways that this “other” information matters for our choices. Her research combines behavioral economics and consumer psychology with neuroimaging to develop theories about how people make decisions when there is seemingly too much information.

Sunday Assembly San Diego is an inclusive non-religious community that meets monthly to hear inspirational talks, connect for service projects, sing songs and generally celebrate life. Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome.
We are located at the Bankers Hill Club, which features an accessible facility, including accessible parking spots and bathrooms.
Stay after the assembly for a chili cookoff, really just yet another in a series of excuses to mingle and talk and eat and be humans together.
