Sunday Assembly with Scott Paulson
Details
The Spooooooooooooky Theremin
Halloween is fast approaching, so UCSD spooky sound effects maven Scott Paulson will regale us with All Things Theremin. The Theremin, a curious and haunting musical instrument that was invented around 1918 by Russian physicist Lev Theremin, is played merely by waving your hands near two antennae. Mr. Paulson will show some classic movie clips suitable for some ooooOOOO-EEEeeEeee—oooOOOO Theremin overscoring and underscoring as those sci-fi, phantasmagoric, otherworldly short scenes roll. And, yes, you will get the opportunity to play a Theremin!

Stay after the assembly for coffee, snacks, and our third annual SOUP OFF, where you can compete for the coveted Best in Soup prize. The eating is free, but if you want to judge the entries, that will set you back a cool $10. Please RSVP for that separately here, and check out the details.
And for the first time, we are hosting another event after the Soup Off: a tabletop roleplaying group! Come for the assembly, stay for the free soup lunch, and stay late to get your roleplay on. We will have a cash/Venmo snack bar for noshing. Please RSVP for that roleplay event here.
Sunday Assembly San Diego is an inclusive, non-religious community that meets to hear inspirational talks, connect for service projects, sing songs and generally celebrate life. Assemblies are free to attend, and everyone is welcome. AND!! Free child care for ages 1.5 and up is available at every Assembly.
Some of the best community time is staying after the assembly for coffee and snacks and to hang out with other assemblers, so please do.
The Bankers Hill Club features an accessible facility, including accessible parking spots and bathrooms.
