Rumi's Summer Meditation Circle

An Evening of Silent Meditation and Deep Listening
Last night
I begged the Wise One to tell me
the secret of the world.
Gently, gentle he whispered,
"Be quiet,
the secret cannot be spoken,
it is wrapped in silence."
Rumi
Join us for a session of silent meditation of the heart, as Rumi practiced, and a "council circle" - learning to listen and speak from the heart and reflect together as a community.
Rumi weaves an appreciation of silence throughout his writings, even taking the pen name Khamush - Silence - as his own in many poems. Silent meditation formed part of the daily practice of dervishes in Rumi's sufi tradition in Ottoman Turkish times, and resonates with silent practice in other traditions such as zen, mindfulness and Christian mysticism.
All are welcome, no experience is needed - the practices will be introduced and explained fully. They will be shared free from any particular religious perspective, to be inclusive of anyone from any background.
There is a suggested donation of £5 on the door, only to cover costs. All our events are not for profit.
Come, come, whoever you are!
