Creative Writing with Rumi - Summer Workshop

Details

A quarterly afternoon session to explore creative writing, inspired by Rumi, the great 13th Century Persian mystic and poet of love.

We'll begin with a poem by Rumi and use it as a spark to light up our own ideas, developing a poem or piece of prose, in response also to works of art in the Manchester Whitworth Art Gallery.

Our writing will be encouraged and supported by guided exercises to help structure our ideas and words, and we'll have time to drink tea or coffee in the gallery cafe to relax, write and talk.

Anyone welcome, there's no need to be a writer or know anything about Rumi.

Meet on the steps of Whitworth Art Gallery at 1pm, and bring pen and paper or whatever you need to write! If you prefer drawing to writing, you could also bring a sketchpad and draw on the words and artworks to create something visual.

The address is:

The Whitworth,
The University of Manchester,
Oxford Road,
Manchester
M15 6ER
