Rumi's Zikr and Meditation Evening

Details

A relaxed evening each month to practice meditation and zikr together in a beautiful venue, offered for people of any religious or spiritual background. Zikr is a spiritual practice of connecting to the heart through reciting "Divine Names" in Arabic, similar to what people know as mantra in other traditions. The way we will practice is very simple, and comes down to us through 700 years from Rumi himself. It was shared with us as a practice open to people of any religion, and we'll maintain this openness and inclusivity.

Each session will include guided relaxation, a period of zikr and silent meditation, and an open period for conversation.

The appreciation of silence was at the heart of Rumi's own practice, so much so that he used it as a pen name in some of his poems! Sharing meditation together in this way may help with an appreciation of Rumi's spirit and teachings too if you also come to the Sunday sessions.

There's no charge for the session. A suggested donation of £5 would be much appreciated to help cover the cost of room hire, if you are able. Please still come though if you can't manage it - your company itself is a contribution!

We will often go for coffee and cake at a nearby cafe afterwards.
