If coming by train 🚂
meet at Piccadilly at 9.30 am
to get the 9.48 to Edale
approx. 45 min, £15 return.
If coming by car 🚗
meet at Edale train station at 10.30 am
(see Edale Car Park [HPBC]).
We’ll be doing one of the two hikes below. Both are from the Komoot app, and are classed as “intermediate” in difficulty. The first is slightly longer and harder than the second. (If you have any difficulty viewing the walks via these links, please let me know straight away, as it may just require a quick change of settings in my profile.)
(If it’s the second hike, I think we’ll have to do the route backwards; otherwise, we may end up coming down the Ladder rather than going up it 😅)

As always, please consider your own fitness and experience before coming on the hike. There will be no qualified guides, hike leaders or similar leading the way: we are just ordinary people on a day out in the Peaks. Personally, despite not being an experienced hiker, I am confident, based on past experience, that I can do an intermediate-level Komoot hike with nothing more than my fitness, my phone, my walking boots, and suitable clothing.
There are public toilets beside Edale Car Park (HPBC), very close to Edale train station 🚻
Don’t forget to bring some lunch and plenty of water! 🥪
The current forecast for Edale on the day of the hike is cloud, light rain, and a gentle breeze, with a max. temp. of 21 degrees C 🌦️
There do not seem to be any planned engineering works affecting the Piccadilly - Sheffield rail line on the day of the hike 🔧
