Rumi's Spiritual Path - Monthly Online Call with Mevlevi Shaikh David Bellak
Details
This is a monthy call to explore the spiritual path of Mevlana Jelaladdin Rumi, the great sufi poet and mystic. We will explore Rumi's spiritual practices, including his approach to meditation called "Zikr'ullah" - the Remembrance of the Divine, together with conversation from the heart and sometimes reading the prayers of Rumi's sufi tradition.
The sessions are led by 84 year old Shaikh David Bellak ("Daud Dede"), who is perhaps the oldest living teacher of Rumi's spiritual path in the West. 50 years ago he spent much time in Turkey, and became the closest student and successor of Suleyman Hayati Dede, the main representative of Rumi's tradition in Konya at the time. He moved to Edinburgh in Scotland in the early 1980s where he set up a beautiful oriental carpet shop on the Royal Mile near the Castle.
Daud Dede has so much to share of Rumi's path and his experiences in Turkey - all are invited to join, from any background. The sessions are free of charge - we just ask you are mindful of Dede's age and be patient if he is not always very fluent with IT technology!
