What we’re about

The times are challenging, and we all want to feel a little more secure – whether it's on city streets or taking the subway (and beyond.) If you want to use martial arts to help you get fit and feel more confident, we can help you get going. We use Kung Fu concepts together with classic self-defense moves, to build a toolbox of techniques, skills and knowledge. We practice moving, reacting, observing.
We work with all kinds of scenarios, including weapons (don't worry, they're plastic!) You'll learn useful self-defense and martial arts technique. We call it practical self defense. We start with basics like footwork, reaction, and simple strikes and kicks. And while it requires a lot of practice and training to make it work – you won't get it all day one – we all have to start somewhere. So come on down Sundays at 1:30 and join us, or Tuesday at 6:00 for a more traditional martial arts class.  We want to share what we've learned with people who want to get healthy on every level. If the future concerns you, if you want to learn something useful while you exercise, and have fun doing it, this Meetup is for you. And beginners are welcome, as are people with martial arts experience.
