This week, Sunday Vinyl Service has a Japanese heart.
Join wax. and Nido on the Orchid House rooftop for a warm evening of rare records, global sounds, drinks, and community as the sun goes down over Amsterdam Oost.
For Vol. 4, we are joined by Masa of Hatchobori Records, flying in from Tokyo to share rare Japanese soul, funk and boogie on vinyl — records most rooms in Amsterdam have never heard.
He will be joined by Katsumi Tanaka of Minyo Crusaders, the group known for taking traditional Japanese folk songs and reimagining them through cumbia, Afrobeat, reggae and Latin rhythms. Their sound is sometimes called Latin minyo: Japanese folk music opened up through global grooves.
Expect rare records, warm rooftop energy, music from the source, and a relaxed community atmosphere. Come listen, meet people, have a drink, and stay late with us.
