About us
Sunday Swim is a free, community-led cold plunge that happens every Sunday morning at Riverbend Park. No sign-ups. No tickets. No leader with a clipboard and a whistle. Just people showing up, getting in cold water, and starting the day together.
We’ve been doing this every Sunday since October of 2024; through ice, wind, rain, and everything in between. Some weeks there are 20 people, some weeks there are 2. Either way, the swim happens. We show up, get in the water, and do what we came to do.
This is about wellness, resilience, adventure, and community, without pressure or performance. Whether it’s your first cold plunge or your hundredth, you’re welcome here.
What to Expect
- Some come early for breath-work or a quick run
- The rest of us gather by the river at 8:00AM
- There’s time to say hello, settle your nerves, and take in the morning
- Everyone enters the water together. Get in up to your neck, or up to your ankles.
- "Enjoy" the cold for as little as 10 seconds or as long as 10 minutes. Listen to your body.
- Most people get dry, warm up, and head out shortly after (the cold is real)
No expectations beyond showing up safely and respectfully. We watch each others' backs, and we never swim alone.
Why We Do It
Cold water can help boost mood, reduce stress, improve circulation, and build mental resilience. But just as important is the ritual itself, starting the week grounded, challenged, and connected to nature and each other.
Sunday Swim isn’t an “event” as much as it is a local tradition. It’s community-powered, not production-heavy. While the I (Thomas) can’t be there every single week, the swim goes on because the community shows up.
As the group grows, I hope to add things like warming areas, hot drinks, or sauna tents with the help of local sponsors, but the core will always stay simple. (Shoot me a message if you are interested in sponsoring.)
What to Bring
- Swimwear
- A large towel
- Warm layers for after (hoodie, sweatpants, wool socks)
- Waterproof shoes or sandals (like Chacos)
- A Hydroflask (#buylocal) with a hot drink
- Neoprene gloves or booties if you want extra warmth
- A friend who’s curious (or nervous)
Pro tip: Dressing in layers makes warming up much easier.
Important Notes
Cold plunging isn’t for everyone. Please check with your doctor before participating, especially if you have a heart condition. You’re always responsible for your own limits. There’s no pressure to participate or stay in longer than feels right.
No RSVP. No commitment. Just show up on Sunday morning.
