What we’re about
The Sunflower Sessions – Open Mic Night - Where writers read and readers listen… Poetry, prose and spoken word performances.
The Sunflower Sessions meet on the last Wednesday of each month (apart from December).
This is open to all and once you place your name forward as a reader it will be added to the list and a readers scheduled will be arranged. The night will kick-off at 7.30pm and writers will have 4 minutes. A few things you should know....
There is no cover charge for those attending.
Performers are scheduled by the MC for the evening and the night is not operated on a first-come-first-serve basis. If we schedule you later in the evening we will try to schedule you earlier if you can make it the following month.
The evening is only for poetry, prose and spoken word so we don't include musical or comedic performers.
We publish a quarterly collection featuring readers from The Sunflower Sessions. This is priced at €5 and goes towards the annual running costs. More importantly, it's a great collection of poetry. You can pick up copies at the open mic night or from Book Upstairs, The Winding Stair and other venues.
Finally, the venue is The Lord Edward pub, which is opposite Christchurch Cathedral in Dublin. Entrance via the side door, beside Burdocks chip shop and we are on the second floor.
