ABOUT THE HIKE: We hike to JTNP's largest grove of California fan palm trees, tucked into a hidden canyon. There are no big climbs on this well maintained, single track trail as pass scenic ridges and sandy washes through the desert. At the midpoint of the hike, we will stop for a lunch break under or above the palm trees. There is a rock scramble into the hidden canyon, which is optional for the more adventurous. This is a strenuous, out/back, 5 hour, 7.5 mile hike, with 700 feet of elevation gain. We will be hiking at a moderate pace with a sweep, so please plan to hike with the group. Dogs are not allowed on this national park trail.
