🛳️ Ferry, Boardwalk & Ocean Views: Balboa to the West Jetty

This small group walk promises big views!!

🚗 Parking PSA:
Park at your own risk, friends. You might want to park near Pavilions instead of in front of Sapori or the former Union Bank—a private patrol company has been keeping a very close eye on that area 👀

🙋‍♀️ Sign-up etiquette (aka good hiker karma):
Please only sign up if you’re truly planning to come. And no surprise appearances without a confirmed RSVP.

These walks often have a waitlist, and last-minute cancellations can leave others sadly sitting this one out.

⏳ Waitlist magic:
If the event is full, add yourself to the waitlist and cross your fingers 🤞 Spots open up regularly, and waitlisted walkers are automatically moved to “Going” in the order they signed up. You’ll get a Meetup message when luck is on your side ✨

📸 No face, no pace:
A clear profile photo showing your entire face is required. Shadows and mystery profiles need not apply 😎🚫

🌴 The walk (aka the fun part) 🌴
👟 This is a flat, advanced-beginner walk—about 5.3 miles in roughly 2 hours. Totally doable, nicely paced, and very scenic.
📍 We’ll start at the former Union Bank, wander over to Balboa Island, cruise down Marine Avenue to the waterfront, and then hop on the Balboa Island Ferry to the Peninsula ($2.00 each way 🚤—worth it!).

🌊 Once across, we’ll stroll the East Oceanfront boardwalk as far as we can, continue onto Channel Road, and land at our midway chill spot—the Jetty. Expect ocean views, salty air, and time to relax at the park or hang out near the Wedge 😎🌊

🚻 Important but unglamorous detail:
Yes, we’ll have a restroom break on the Peninsula right after the ferry ride. Comfort matters.
