### 🌟 Sunshine Coast Actors Lab - 8-Week Beta Program

### 10th September - 29th October - Wednesday's 5:30pm - 8:00pm

This is a one-time beta program. limited to just 7 participants. Keeping the group small and collaborative ensures that every actor is seen, supported, and given space to grow.
By joining, you’ll not only be training, you’ll also be helping to forge the ongoing Actors Lab here on the Sunshine Coast.
Each week has specific outcomes and a clear structure, but there’s also a feedback loop built in — your reflections and input will directly shape how this space grows into an ongoing program.

***

Join us this spring to collaborate in a dynamic learning space with fellow Sunshine Coast actors.
Across this 8-week program, we’ll establish a disciplined practice that builds on the fundamentals of practitioners like Meisner, infused with grounding eastern practices designed to connect us to our bodies and anchor us in truth, receptivity, and presence. This foundation allows us to be fully available to our instinctive responses and attuned to our acting partners.
The first 4 weeks will focus on living truthfully. From there, we’ll move into imaginary circumstances, expanding how we respond, create, and connect. Alongside this, we’ll explore the technical aspects of acting today — from self-taping and slates to deepening our awareness of how we see ourselves on screen and making creative adjustments as we go.

## 🔹 Core Elements We’ll Explore

These practices will be repeated and developed week to week, with input from participants shaping the way they are explored further:

  • Focus & State of Being — where to place attention; “acting is doing.”
  • The Architecture of the Imaginary — creating believable worlds, placing objects in space, and relating to them with truth.
  • The Frame & Occupying Space — understanding the camera frame and inhabiting it with honesty.
  • Physicality, Movement & Stillness — connecting breath, body, and presence.
  • Eyelines — the subtleties of sight lines and their impact on screen and stage.
  • Self-Taping & Slates — audition prep and technical awareness.
  • Honest Feedback & Impact — peer review that fuels growth.
  • Multiple Roles — rotating through perspectives of actor, observer, director, and casting.

## 🔹 How This Lab Is Different

This is not a standard workshop with a teacher at the front. While each week follows a clear structure, the process is peer-led and facilitated — designed to encourage actors to take initiative, explore with ownership, and hold accountability for their work.
Your insights will help refine what’s most valuable, making this space one that evolves with the community it serves.

## 🎬 Local Film Project Opportunities

Alongside the Lab, there will also be opportunities to get involved with intimate, small-crew film projects I’m currently working on. These projects are collaborative, hands-on, and often shot on real locations here on the Sunshine Coast.
For those attending, it may be a chance to not only act but also to see how independent film comes together, gain practical on-set experience, and contribute to a creative process that thrives on teamwork and initiative.

Asher Godson-King
I’m an Actor Facilitator currently developing my own projects, submitting auditions, and now excited to share this space with other motivated actors. I first studied acting formally in my twenties, performed in local film and theatre in Northern NSW, And have returned to it twenty years later with renewed focus and passion.
Alongside acting, I’ve worked as a visual artist, created and curated performance arts festivals, and run personal development retreats and programs. My background in yoga, movement, and meditation continues to inform my approach — grounding the work in presence, authenticity, and creative exploration.
