Sunshine Adventure Hike 3/29: Romero Pools 🥾☀️

Let’s enjoy a challenging and (hopefully) watery destination hike by heading to Romero Pools! We will be hiking the Romero Canyon Trail to Romero Pools.

This trail is a popular adventure destination in Catalina State Park, and when there is water, it definitely has some beautiful views by the pools. Even if it’s dry, it’s a fun climb with rewarding sights. It’s a 6.1 mile out and back with 1318 feet of elevation gain according to AllTrails and will take us around three and a half hours with time for pictures, breaks and a snack at the pools.

The first half mile is relaxed and then it’s one and three quarters of steady incline. The last three quarters of a mile is up and down, with some small pools before the main ones. This is the trail we started on as we embarked up to Mount Lemmon in last month’s expedition 🎒

We will convene at the trailhead at 7:50am for introductions and begin our hike at 8:00am. Catalina State Park charges a fee that can be paid online, in person or with a pass.

Please bring lots of water and sunscreen, hiking poles will be very useful with incline stretches on the way up and all the way down. The weather forecast right now calls for 61 degrees at the start and 73 degrees by the time we finish, beautiful hiking weather that’s getting on the warm side.

Given the climb of this trail, please make sure you are prepared for this hike, physically and provision-wise.
