Sunshine Social Hike 9/21: Catalina State Park 😁☀️

Let’s enjoy a warm but easy social hike at beautiful Catalina State Park! We will be hiking the Sutherland and Canyon Loop Trail

The trail is a 2.3 mile loop with 196 feet of elevation according to AllTrails and should take us about an hour and 15 minutes with time for pictures and breaks. This is an easy hike with beautiful views, but it will be pretty warm and there is limited shade.

Please note the earlier start time!! I was considering an 8am start and even considering a longer hike (Dripping Spring) but with the heat, it’s better to go earlier and shorter 👍🏻

Due to the heat, we will be starting introductions at 7:00am. After 15-20 minutes of intros, we will begin hiking and return to the parking lot just before 9am (having taken our customary group picture at the halfway point, of course 😁)

Please bring water and sunscreen, hiking poles are not necessary unless for your comfort.

The weather forecast right now calls for 78 degrees at the start and 83 by the time we finish, definitely on the warm side (as we discovered last week…warm but manageable)! This is a dog friendly trail 🐶

There is a fee for parking at Catalina State Park, unless you have the annual pass (recommend if you get out there at least 8-10 times this season). The fee can be paid either at the booth upon entry or if no ranger present, there are directions for an app at the trailhead parking lot.

Let’s get some brunch at Snooze on Oracle afterwards. I’ll get a head count after the hike and call ahead for a patio table for our group.
