Sunshine Adventure Hike 10/16: Safford Peak 🥾☀️⛰️

Let’s enjoy a fun climb along the blue rectangles at Safford Peak! We will be hiking Sombrero Peak north trail from Sanctuary Cove.

The trail is a 3.5 mile out and back, with a total of 1505 feet of elevation according to AllTrails, short and steep! In the past, we have taken around 2 hours and 45 minutes for this hike, with a small break at the top for snacks and pictures.

As far as adventure hikes go, this one is on the more challenging side: lots of scrambling, inclines almost right away and some tricky parts near the top of you are afraid of heights (!) Also steep on the way back so we will be taking our time coming down.

As for all of our adventure hikes, we will be staying together as much as possible, but if things get challenging, please go at your own pace. Please be prepared to turn around and head back safely if that is the case.

We will convene at the trailhead at 6:50am for introductions and begin our hike at 7:00am. Returning to the parking lot just before 10, we can play it by ear if anyone is down for lunch.

No fee to park and the trailhead is easy to find, please be good neighbors around Sanctuary Cove.

Please bring lots of water and sunscreen, hiking poles will be very useful with incline stretches on the way up and all the way down.

The weather forecast right now calls for 55 degrees at the start and 65 degrees by the time we finish, our first chilly hike! Please plan hydration and clothing accordingly (I recommend layers).

We will be taking pictures and posting them to our group Facebook page. Thank you for your consent to post by joining our hike 😎

Hope to see you out there!

Thanks,
