Sunshine Adventure Hike 1/22: Cardiac Gap 🥾☀️💕

Let’s enjoy a challenging adventure hike out in Sabino Canyon, checking out Cardiac Gap! We will be hiking parts of the Esperero Canyon trail.

The part of the trail we will be hiking is 8 miles out and back with just over 2000 feet of elevation. We start in the Sabino canyon rec center parking lot (east side, “Seven Falls Trailhead”), then make our way north up the Esperero Canyon trail. Steep switchbacks await us as we approach Cardiac Gap around the 4 mile mark, rewarding us with awesome views.

We will be taking breaks along the way. As far as adventure hikes go, this is on the challenging side (haven’t done it yet myself, but Emily assures me it will be awesome… :)

As for all of our adventure hikes, we will be staying together as much as possible, but if things get challenging, please go at your own pace. Please be prepared to turn around and head back safely if that is the case.

We will convene at the trailhead at 6:55 for introductions and begin our hike at 7:00am. Expect to return to the parking lot before or around noon (best estimate) if you stay with the main group.

Sabino Canyon charges for a day pass if you don’t have the national parks pass, they can be purchased onsite.

Please bring water and sunscreen, hiking poles may be helpful for the rocky incline and decline.

The weather forecast right now calls for 48 degrees at the start and 65 degrees by the time we finish, very nice! This hike is very exposed.
