Sunshine Adventure Hike 4/11: Romero Pass 🥾☀️

Let’s enjoy a challenging adventure hike in Catalina State Park! We will be hiking past Romero Pools into Romero Pass.

The trail is roughly 9 miles out and back with around 2000 feet of elevation, taking us 5-5.5 hours. We start at the Romero Pools trailhead and hike past the pools and another mile and a half or so up Romero Pass.

We will be taking breaks along the way. As far as adventure hikes go, this one is “difficult minus” due to distance and elevation with little technical climbing. It’s another 1.5 miles of switchbacks and climbing past Romero Pools where we found a good view and turnaround spot on our New Year’s Hike, expect it to take 5-5.5 hours if you stay with the group.

As for all of our adventure hikes, we will be staying together as much as possible, but if things get challenging, please go at your own pace. Please be prepared to turn around and head back safely if that is the case.

We will convene at the trailhead at 6:55 for introductions and begin our hike at 7:00am. Expect to return to the parking lot shortly after noon.

Catalina State Park charges if you don’t have a pass, can be paid in person or with a dropbox at the park entrance.

Please bring water and sunscreen, hiking poles may be helpful if you’re comfortable with them.

The weather forecast right now calls for 66 degrees at the start and 77 degrees by the time we finish, heating up! I recommend shorts. This hike is relatively exposed.

We will be taking pictures and posting them to our group Facebook page. Thank you for your consent to post by joining our hike 😎

Hope to see you out there!
