Sunshine Adventure Hike 9/28: Blackett’s Ridge 🥾☀️⛰️
Let’s enjoy our first adventure hike of the fall 2025 season by climbing the steps up from Sabino Canyon up to Blackett’s Ridge!
The trail is a 5.7 mile out and back starting from the Sabino Canyon recreation center, with a total of 1778 feet of elevation (with lots of steps and a few false summits). In the past, we have taken around 4 hours for this hike, with a small break at the top for snacks and pictures.
This is a very challenging hike! If you have done adventure hikes with the group before, this one is about a medium plus (1.5 Picacho Peaks on the Cristina scale). If you’ve only done the social hikes, please make sure you are prepared for elevated hiking for four hours and everyone should come prepared with water, sunscreen and snacks.
We will convene at the trailhead at 6:50am for introductions and begin our hike at 7:00am. Returning to the parking lot around 11am, we can play it by ear if anyone is down for lunch.
There is a fee for parking if you don’t have a pass, it can be paid onsite. We will meet at the Seven Falls trailhead on the southeast corner of the parking lot.
Please bring lots of water and sunscreen, hiking poles will be very useful with incline stretches and steps on the way up and all the way down.
The weather forecast right now calls for 68 degrees at the start and 78 degrees by the time we finish, definitely on the cooler side of the forecast stays! (Also calling for rain, but we will see…)
Given the length and incline of this trail, please make sure you are prepared for this hike, physically and provision-wise.
We will be taking pictures and posting them to our group Facebook page. Thank you for your consent to post by joining our hike 😎
Hope to see you out there!
Thanks,
