SUP social is going on an adventure to Muckross Lake!

IMPORTANT - all paddlers must have a permit for this paddle. No permit = no paddle. Everyone to meet at rangers at 4pm to get permit.

IMPORTANT - to get your permit you must have washed your board in advance and have proof of the board being washed either a video recording or a reciept for powerwashed at a petrol station / garage, and bring the receipt for the powerwashing with you as proof that you have washed it. The nearest garage is
Hegarty’s Spar, on the Muckross Road a short distance beyond the Gleneagle Hotel (coming from Killarney town).

This lake is beautiful with plenty of caves to explore in the first section. So we are planning just to do the first part, but depending on the group we can do the whole lake with a stop at Dinnis cottage for a sandwich - so bring some cash/card.

There are some beautiful caves to explore with sharp rocks - everyone should wear suitable footwear and bring a head torch.
Weather looks sunny and very warm, suggestions to bring sun tan lotion, hat and water. As always, our events are weather dependant - if it gets too windy then we will not go out.

We will meet for 4pm at the rangers hut and hopefully get into the water for 4.30pm. Depending on the group size and route we are aiming to finish at 8pm latest. People are welcome to bring their own treats and beverages for a small chat afterwards.
