Meeting Time 9:15 Distance 10-11 miles Elevation Gain 2500feet Difficulty advanced Meetup Fee $1 Organized by Chris J. Parking no fee, Roadside parking only!

You should have hiked at least 8 miles with 1500+ feet elevation gain lately

What you should know before you sign up *** There will be some steephttp://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/shock.gif up and down sections of the trail, there can be slippery,http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/shock.gif muddy areas, poison oak can be found trailside in some areas. http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/angry.gifTicks can be out as wel

Rain, sounds like we will get rain on this hike, also the part on the coastal trail can be nasty with wind / rain.

be prepared for the rain, MUDD, SLIPPERY, STEEP SECTIONS on the trail

l **Speed I am planning on taking some pictureshttp://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/wink.gif at the falls, you may have to wait a little bit for me **should you be in front and reach a intersection please wait.

****The last 7 http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/angry.gif miles to the meeting point for the hike are on a small narrow road, make sure to plan some extra time for that. Parking is roadside only, no desginated parking lot. ****the trailhead is about http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/biggrin.gif0.25 miles beyond the dam http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/biggrin.gifat a hair pin curvehttp://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/biggrin.gif and the road starts climbing, parking will be http://img1.meetupstatic.com/img/smileys/crying.gif tight, roadside parking only, you may have to park before or after the trailhead, allow extra time to find parking

The road is narrow and it can be tough to turn around, however if you drive past the trailhead and keep driving for a little bit uphill there is a big turnout on the right, where you can turn around very safe and easy.

Waiver Please review and sign the copy I will provide http://files.meetup.c... (http://files.meetup.com/220424/Super_Fabulicious_waiver_sign-in.pdf) pictures from last year, on a little rainy day, water level of falls maybe a little lower https://www.meetup.com... Planned Route Cataract trail to rock springs, old mine road to pantoll, matt davis, coastal, (willow camp)fire road to laurel dell, cataract trail back to parking

Map Link http://www.marinwater... (http://www.marinwater.org/documents/2010.10.20_VstrMap_color.pdf) The hike starts on the south end of lake alpine, the map shows the Bolinas Fairfax road from Fairfax you will take to get there.

DIRECTIONS: (make sure to check with the google link as well) Take Hwy #101 to San Rafael, and take the Sir Francis Drake Blvd. exit. Drive 6 miles to Fairfax, and turn left on Pacheco Rd. (may be unsigned, there is a sign saying "Fairfax" at intersection). Take an immediate right on Broadway, then first left on Bolinas Rd. Drive 7.8 miles to Alpine Lake, and park at the hairpin turn about 0.25 miles after crossing the dam. Parking is limited, find a parking spot somewhere off the narrow road, in the pullouts along the turn. The trailhead is on the left at the hairpin turn. the google link below points very close to the meeting point you can see the hairpin curve I will send my cell number Sat. night to all on the yes list, however there maybe no reception at the trailhead. PLEASE NOTE: The 7.8 miles on Fairfax/Bolinas Rd. is slow and winding, make sure to give yourself plenty of time to arrive on time and find roadside parking Google link http://maps.google.co...
