July Dive Bar of the Month
Details
Thanks to everyone who made it out to the Silver Spigot last month and to those hearty souls that participated in National Dive Bar Day. We appreciate you all!
This month we are headed to the Kensington bar with the second oldest liquor license in town: the Kensington Club.
Established in 1935, the Kensington Club (or the Club Kensington depending on whether you look at the sign over the door or the sign on the window) is a CASH ONLY bar with a music venue next door.
The bar side is long, skinny, and dark. It houses a couple of pool tables, a few booths, an extensive collection of drinking memorabilia, and one of the most interesting vending machines in San Diego.
There’s a full bar, a jukebox, and a great ambiance. Currently, there is outdoor seating and tables in front of the bar in case you want to enjoy your drinks and take in all that Kensington has to offer.
We will again observe Summer Hours, and Dive Bar will start at 5 p.m., so you can swing by directly after work if that works for you.
Plan now to join us on Wednesday, July 26th, at the Kensington Club (or Club Kensington)
IMPORTANT INFO:
CASH or CARDS: The Ken Club is CASH ONLY!! Bring your paper money. There is an ATM on site if you forget.
FOOD: Like all good Dive Bars, no food is served at the Ken, but you are welcome to bring something in. It’s Kensington, and you have lots of food choices nearby.
PARKING: Street parking only. The best bet is to use Uber or Lyft and not worry about it.
