Thinking about Agency through Politics, Personal Experience, & Communal Support

Hi all! I am an early-twenties Ukrainian woman attempting to build a fun and fulfilling life in Dublin and I’m looking for like-minded people. The idea behind this group is to create a space – and, over time, a community – that reflects a better world: a world with expansive and explorative understandings of our identities, relationships, and life purposes; a world where mutual support is a practiced norm; a world that celebrates individual expression and agency while also harnessing the power of communities and collectives.**
What does all of this mean practically? Here’s the plan for this event:
- Structured ice-breakers to make us all more at ease (I am a deeply introverted person, so I get how this can be).
- Then, we’ll take turns sharing an aspect of our lives where we’d like more agency. The meeting is a space to let you think about what you have been deprived of politically but want to have in your life regardless. My example of that is community! There are many structural reasons why we are isolated and lonely. Despite these objective limitations, I want to put intentional effort into creating fulfilling and supportive communities, and in that way be a tiny resistant force. This group can be a space to validate and normalize our collective grievances as well as offer insightful questions, support, political analysis, where useful, and simply a fun respite.
- We’ll wrap up by reflecting on our experience together: how it felt, and in what ways it was helpful or not. As long as we keep the core ideas intact, I’m open to evolving the structure of these meetings, or even letting go of it entirely, depending on what we find most valuable.
Don’t be afraid to come and see how it goes! In explaining my idea, I’ve used some academic and therapy-adjacent language, but I want to make this informal and fun. Feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns, or accommodation requests.
