Let’s watch The End of the Tour and discuss Although of Course...

Details

We’re watching The End of the Tour, which is based on an extended interview Wallace gave to Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky while on the Infinite Jest book tour. Rolling Stone ultimately did not have space to publish the interview, but Lipsky always considered it the most interesting conversation he ever had. After Wallace’s death, their interview was published in book form as Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself: A Road Trip with David Foster Wallace.

The End of the Tour is a 2015 film adaptation of the interview starring Jason Segel as Wallace and Jesse Eisenberg as Lipsky. The trailer is viewable here –

Although Of Course You End Up Becoming Yourself is less interesting than Wallace’s best writing, but it’s well worth reading if you get a chance. While the book is 354 pages long, it’s a relatively quick read due to the interview format. It’s available from Amazon here –

Of course, if you don’t have time to read the book, don’t let that stop you from coming to the screening!

We're meeting in the community room inside the Whole Foods in Marietta. The community room is large, quiet, and segregated from the rest of the building. A large variety of food and beverages, including wine and beer, can be purchased in the store and brought into the community room.
